1. Alexander Wang Diego Bucket Bag in Tang Orange, $850 US at Barney’s New York

Not everyone will be able to treat their lady to this insanely delicious Alexander Wang Diego Bucket Bag, but let’s be honest here, it’s pretty much what EVERY girl wants. We’ve chosen this supple grained leather one in gorgeous Tang Orange, that’s sure to have every girl on the street secretly muttering hatful things towards her. Aren’t girls horrible?

2. Lonely Cut-Out Triangle Longline Bra in Grape Lace, $101 CAN at Lonely Hearts

This wouldn’t be a Valentines Day gift guide without a little lingerie now would it? We like this beautiful lace and velvet triangle cut out bra from New Zealand brand Lonely Hearts’ lingerie line aptly named Lonely. You’ll score major points for choosing something that covers more in this supple romantic burgundy colour, plus it won’t break the bank like other couture options like this.

3. YSL La Laque Couture in No.14 Violine Surrealiste, $25 US at YSL.com & Sephora

If you don’t already know this about your girlfriend, it’s safe to say she’s obsessed with nail polish. She’s loyal to OPI and Essie, but she may have never ventured into the luscious land of YSL La Laque Couture. You’ll take her to a place where her home manicures end in happiness instead of frustration with this high pigmented polish. The perfectly shaped brush make it nearly dummy proof to do a good job, and the colour goes on without clumps and streaks. It’s pretty much the bees knees. So go get her this romantic Violine Surrealiste coloured one down at Sephora, because it may be out of her nail polish budget, but it fits perfectly into your non-existent one, right dudes?

4. Fuchsia Anemones arranged in a vase, From $175, Local floral couturier

There’s no question that flowers on Valentines Day are essential, but skip the tacky mixed bouquets and boxed roses this year, and you’ll wow her with your taste. There’s nothing quite as romantic as flower arranged on mass, this is probably why we’re living in a rose-obsessed world. There are so many other far more romantic flowers out there, that have romantic scent and incredibly show-stopping colour, particularly at this time of year imported from Holland and Japan. We suggest you call your local florist and ask for one type of flower arranged on mass (about 30-40 stems, without greenery or fuss), like these fuchsia Anemones above, or Anemones in any colour really. Even if you’re calling last-minute, they won’t turn you away, because you’re not asking for roses like everyone else. Other equally romantic alternatives to ask for are hyacinth, sweet peas, orchids, scabiosa, or narcissus.
5. Miista Tara Prism Heels, $195 CAN at Sauvage, Toronto

If you’re looking for a sure ticket to your lady’s heart, you should obviously skip the flowers and buy her some sexy shoes. We personally have been lusting over these Miista Tara prism heels in a dreamy printed silk with an old school ankle strap. She’ll freak out that you were thoughtful enough to go into her closet and check her size, plus you’ll score points for knowing the place to get them! You can find them at Sauvage in Toronto, starting this week, and who knows, she might even keep them on when it gets hot and heavy later at night ; )

6. Illesteva Frieda Sunglasses in Matte Pink, $200 US, at Gargyle

If your girl knows anything about fashion, she probably wants a pair of Illestiva sunnies, because they’re oh-so-new-york-fabulous and unlike any other designer shades on the market. We like these sort of retro round frames in matte pink, a fitting Valentines colour. Sunglasses have the same effect on girls as the Alexander Wang bag mentioned above will, so you really can’t go wrong.

7. Proenza Schouler Multichain Bracelet in Black Pearl, $775 US at Proenza Schouler

We all thought gin was the panty remover, right? Wrong. Proenza Schouler is the panty remover, that is, if she’s wearing any. Add style to her arm party with this incredible anodized multi chain bracelet with black resin pearls. Not much else to say here, except you better choose the rush shipping option on this one if you want to get laid on V-day friend! Or just stick with some nice cucumber gin.

8. Anice Jewellery Simple & Sweet Sterling Love Ring, $35 CAN at Anice, Toronto

We heard Anice Jewellery in Toronto’s Kensington market was holding a DIY jewellery making class for guys hoping to surprise their sweethearts with a little handmade something. What a thoughtful idea right? Well we’re sorry to say you’ve missed it already, so you’d better get over there pronto and pick up the next best thing, this sterling sliver heart ring. It won’t cost as much as other things on this list, and she’ll probably love you a little bit more for it.

9. Deer Dana Raf Tee, $60 US at Opening Ceremony

He’s every girls hero right now for saving Dior and being generally awesome in the fashion world. So she’s sure to get a heart-on when she opens this Deer Dana tee with Raf Simon’s face on the front of it. It’s made in New York and is limited edition (be sure to mention this as she opens it). It’s a small price to pay to help her to convey her love for Raf, and if you don’t love him too, you should probably go do some research and find out why you should too.

10. Glory Hole Donuts, $4 CAN each at Glory Hole Donuts Toronto

Cupcakes, chocolates and macarons are already pretty passé, and donuts are where it’s at. Score some major bonus points for thinking outside the heart-shaped truffle box this year by bringing her a box of decadent gourmet donuts! We suggest you try to snag a dozen or two from Glory Hole Donuts in Parkdale, because not only will you impress her by your abilities to obtain them (they sell out everyday, without fail), but you’ll score bonus points from their cheeky name!
