On Wednesday afternoon, news broke that Charlie Murphy had passed away at the age of 57 after a battle with leukaemia. Entertainers from all over have been paying their respects to the long-time comic.

Murphy was a writer and co-star on sketch comedy show Chappelle’s Show, and many wondered what the feelings were of the show’s star, Dave Chappelle.

Last night, he made an appearance on-stage at John Mayer’s tour stop in Columbus, OH. To honour the life and storied career of his friend Charlie Murphy, Chappelle requested a song off Mayer’s new album, The Search for Everything. The song is titled “You’re Gonna Live Forever in Me,” and aptly deals with the topic of companionship and the impact someone leaves on another’s life.

Watch the two reminisce on memories with Charlie Murphy below. Although the video cuts off before the actual rendition of the number, we’ve attached the melancholic track.
