The Stepkids at Drake Underground in Toronto

We sent our husband and wife duo to see The Stepkids in Toronto last night at the Drake Underground, here are their thoughts:

Becca: Since seeing The Stepkids back in May when they opened for Mayer Hawthorne, the band has spent some serious time on the road, including opening spots for Kimbra. Road time usually means a band gets tighter, which The Stepkids hardly needed. Instead it seems to have also made them loosen up a bit with their crowd, having some fun with some on-stage conversation between songs. Their music is so much fun but also complex, making for an entertaining set – and that’s not even mentioning their amazing visuals.

Dave: I really liked hearing their brand new tune “Moving Pictures”.  They have a new 12-inch out called “Sweet Salvation” – pick it up for some good listening and check out the video for the title track. Like last time, I really enjoyed the set because The Stepkids have a good balance of sing-along choruses and jam-y adventures.
