British folk singer Will Varley made his Canadian headlining debut at Toronto’s Smiling Buddha last night. Using some off-dates from his tour with Frank Turner and The Arkells to his advantage, Varley played to a decent number of fans who were keen to sing along.

The songs ranged from melancholy and quiet to lightly comedic, and Varley was happy to banter back and forth with the crowd. While he’s been playing music for 15 years, things seem to be finally starting to come together for the singer, and he joked that if the crowd went home and told 100 friends he’d be back playing Massey Hall in no time.
