Katy Perry’s disco-lite comeback single “Chained to the Rhythm” featuring Skip Marley may not be pecking its way up the charts as most of her back catalogue of tracks have, but she can now latch onto being a politically woke pop star and tout her indie cred with a slick Hot Chip remix of the track.
Riding on a bubbly bass line and sputtering with strips of vocoder breaks as the track winds down, “Chained to the Rhythm” is unfolded, flipped, chopped, and re-sewn into a bouncy funkhouse track. The remix marks Hot Chip’s first group project since 2015 as members Joe Goddard and Alexis Taylor work on their newest solo projects.
