Festival Music House 2012: Humans, PS I Love You, Dan Mangan & Yukon Blonde

We loved the first night of Festival Music House so much that we had to go back.  We returned Tuesday night to a bigger crowd and even bigger party.

Humans kicked the night off with incredible energy. Bright lights and big bass to match Vancouver gentlemen Robbie Slade and Peter Ricq showed everyone what they’re made of: pure dance party power. The 8pm time slot is a tough one but despite that they still kicked ass. Had it been a 1am set a full on rave would have gone down, no questions asked.

Kingston kids PS I Love You were next up and PS we love them too. A perfect mess of fuzzy feedback and loud drums it was no shock to hear audience members making Pixies comparisons.

Did you know that there are leaves in the tress and tress in the forest? That’s just one of the many lyrical lessons taught to us by the oh so dreamy Dan Mangan. He’s nice, nice, very nice as are his friendly folky flannel tunes. Canadian campfire music to make s’mores (and then make-out) to.

Last up was BC rocker types Yukon Blonde. Long hair? Check. Leather vests? Check. Good times? Of course. All in all? A night full of tasty tunes.
