Dev Hynes has teamed up with former Pitchfork intern and indie music insider Bryndon Cook for a new project called VeilHymn. While you might be unfamiliar with Cook (who’s toured with Chairlift, Solange & more) he also collaborated with Hynes on a few tracks from Blood Orange’s latest album Freetown Sound.
Together as VeilHymn’s they explore a new direction that’s a little bit soul, a little bit funk, and also quite a bit political. Their first track, “Hymn” is mindful and heartfelt as far as political songwriting goes but also showcases Hynes expertise for production.
